Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer couples massage?
I do not offer couples massages. I recommend Elements of Sunshine for couples massage.
Do you accept health insurance?
I currently am not accepting any new insurance clients, whether it's health insurance, LNI, or PIP. I do accept FSA and HSA cards as payment, and can provide Super Bills upon request. To request a Super Bill, please email your name and date of service to carol@rapturemassageandbodyworks.com
Where is your online intake form?
When you receive a confirmation email upon booking, there is a link to it in the message body called "Confidential Intake and Informed Consent Form". The link is generated dynamically for each client by the scheduling software so it is not accessible from this website. If you didn't receive one or have trouble finding it, please text me at 253-778-6375 or email carol@rapturemassageandbodyworks.com and I'll send it to you.
What kind of massage should I get?
If you're unsure, you can always select "Signature Massage" as that just means "custom". If you are pregnant, please select "Prenatal Massage" so I can make sure the table is best prepared for your comfort and safety.

I list all the different styles of massage I offer as they are commonly known in the industry just so you know what I can provide. However, every massage is customized according to your needs on that day no matter what you select. That means when I sit down with you for intake right before a session, we get an idea of what your goals are; is it pain relief? More range of motion? Stress or anxiety relief? How do you want the massage to feel when you're on the table? Then I use my skillset to provide a customized session accordingly, with the lines of communication open throughout in case changes are needed.

So select the service that sounds most comfortable for you and know that we are flexible when you arrive. The only exception is if you are pregnant as I'd like to prepare the table and room in advance for your comfort.
Do you offer walk ins?
I do not. The entrance is locked at all times, and I only unlock for those with a confirmed appointment. Just ring the bell when you arrive and I'll buzz ya in at our scheduled time.
What are your rates?
Please note that the only time I provide sessions shorter than 75 minutes is when the scope is limited to just the neck, scalp, face. Otherwise, my offerings are all 75 minutes or longer.

60 min (Neck/Scalp/Face only) - $120
75 min - $145
90 min - $170
120 mi - $220
Is therapeutic massage/deep tissue/bodywork supposed to hurt?
No. However, I do distinguish between an intensely pleasant sensation with informed, firm touch versus actual pain. We get the best results when you are actually enjoying what is being done, when there is a felt-sense of safety, and you're in "rest and digest" mode. Pain often disrupts that.
I welcome and invite feedback throughout, and I do NOT encourage anyone to 'power through' or hold their breath though any part of a treatment. "No pain, no gain" is a myth, and real harm can occur when massage therapists ignore pain signals. If what I'm doing does not feel welcomed, I change my approach to find a technique that does.

We are learning more and more about how much our brains and nervous systems have to do with the outcome of treatment, that what's happening structurally may have more to do with how your brain is receiving and responding to touch, pressure, my voice, and other sensory stimuli. You, as the client on the table, are the expert in your own internal experience in any given moment and as a massage therapist, it's my job to honor your body signals in order to meet the treatment goals.
