Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer couples massage?
We do not offer couples massage. We can schedule two appointments at the same time depending on availability, but we do not have the space to have two massages in the same room at the same time.
Do you accept health insurance?
We currently are not accepting any new insurance clients, whether it's health insurance, LNI, or PIP.
Is therapeutic massage/deep tissue/bodywork supposed to hurt?
No. However, we do distinguish the difference between an intensely pleasant sensation with informed, firm touch versus actual pain. You never should have to feel like having to 'power through' or hold your breath though any part of a treatment. If you tense up, your brain is telling you the work is too much and the therapist needs to back off or some real tissue damage can be done. "No pain, no gain" is a myth.

We are learning more and more about how much our brain and nervous system are involved in the effectiveness of a session, that what's happening structurally has a lot to do with how your brain is receiving and responding to input (our touch). In other words we know that you, as the client on the table, know best in how your body is doing in the moment and as massage therapists, it's our job to honor those signals and work with them to achieve the results and sensations you want.

We get the best results when you are actually enjoying what is being done, when we can get you feeling present and fully relaxed.
What kind of massage should I get?
If you're unsure, you can always select "Signature Massage" as that just means "custom". If you know you just want to zone out and relax, you can select "Swedish Relaxation".
We list all the different styles of massage we offer as they are commonly known in the industry just so you know what we can do. However, every massage is customized according to your needs no matter what you select. That means when we sit down with you during intake right before a session, we get an idea of what your goals are; is it pain relief in a certain area? More range of motion? Stress relief? Recovery from soft tissue damage? How do you want the massage to feel when you're on the table? Then we use our unique skill set to give a customized session according to your needs. This can also change during the session and we welcome feedback at any time as we go along. You can decide during a session if you'd like an add-on service like cupping or customized aromatherapy even.

So select the service that sounds most comfortable for you and know that we are flexible when you arrive. The only exception is if you are pregnant we'd like to know ahead of time so we can better prepare the table and room for your comfort. If you're pregnant, please select Prenatal massage.
Do you offer walk ins?
We do not. We are by appointment only and the front door is locked in between sessions. We do not have a front desk staff.
What are your rates?
Our rates are listed on the "Services" page. As of April 1, 2022 the pricing is $100 for the first hour and $40 for every half hour thereafter. So 90 min is $140 and 2 hours is $180. Add-ons are $15 for cupping, $10 for customized aromatherapy and certain topicals.
Where is your online intake form?
When you receive a confirmation email upon booking, there is a link to it in the message body called "Confidential Intake and COVID19 Informed Consent Form". The link is generated dynamically for each client so it is not accessible from our website. If you have trouble finding it, please text us at 253-778-6375 or email carol@rapturemassageandbodyworks.com and we'll send it to you.
