Welcome Jen Chan! Dec. 1-12, 2016

As many of you may already know, I am returning to Egypt for another month-long trip right after Thanksgiving, returning the week before Christmas. My trip begins November 26th, and my first day back at Rapture is December 21st.

While I'm gone, my two troopers Hillary and Scarlet are filling in here and there, but the bulk my schedule will be covered by my friend and colleague, Jen Chan. She's an amazing massage therapist and local activist for cannabis use in healthcare, particularly massage therapy. You can read her interview on the topic with The Stranger here.

Our schedules are getting full quickly these days. Get on the books while you can by calling/texting 253-778-6375 or online at http://www.rapturemassageandbodyworks.com/bookonline

About Jen

Jen Chan, CMT/LMP, BCTMB, graduated with honors from AKS Massage School . She is certified in sports massage, and incorporates that passion into her extensive volunteerism, providing massage at such events as JFK 50 mile Run, Run For Shelter/Loudoun County, VA, March of the Dimes “Walk America”, the Patriot Cup, Adventure Quest, Tom Dolan Swim Invitational, and Reston Relay for Life. Not only does Jen specialize in sports massage, she also specializes in Swedish massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Hot Stone Massage, and Chair massage.

She has experience working with an extensive group of people such as people suffering from chronic pain/chronic muscle tension, individuals suffering from anxiety/depression/anorexia issues, people with post-surgery related issues, individuals with acute injuries, athletes (from your weekend warrior, to the amateur player, to professional athletes), people with cancer, and the individual just needing to relax and de-stress.

Jen believes in the body's ability to heal itself and that massage therapy is one of the many paths to restoring health and wholeness to the body. Massage brings balance to everyday life. Her style provides deep relaxation as well as treatment-oriented work by incorporating her specialties. She listens to each individual needs and caters to their particular issues to create an optimal healing session. Jen is all about educating the individual about the importance of massage not only to the physical body, but to the emotional side as well.

As a Virginia Tech alumni, she planned, & implemented a Virginia Tech fundraiser to raise money for the individuals who suffered from the Virginia Tech shooting. The fundraiser provided free massages and chiropractic services.

Moving to WA in 2010, Jen slowly found herself becoming a mobile massage therapist, going to many veterans homes. Her WA clientele introduced her to cannabis infused topicals, and a new world opened. WA House Bill 2136 Sec 7 passed and became effective in July 2015 distinguishing what CHABA (Cannabis Health & Beauty Aids) is and removing them from the WA controlled substance act, allowing LMP’s to utilize this topical into their massages. Jen has been an advocate, on behalf of her veteran clients, for CHABA and the benefits of using them. She is considered the first CHABA massage practitioner “out of the green closet”.
